RECAP OF SELECTIONS FROM 06/09/18

Belmont Stakes (G1) at Belmont Park: JUSTIFY ($3.60) cemented his name in racing history by becoming the 13th Triple Crown winner (and only second undefeated winner besides SEATTLE SLEW) after his tour de force around the ‘Big Sandy’ oval. Now a career money earner of $3,798,000 after just six lifetime starts, wherever he starts next is sure to turn that day into must see TV! Without question, JUSTIFY was the star of the show, but GRONKOWSKI surprised most players (including yours truly) with his second place finish at odds of 24/1, splitting me out of the exacta with 3rd place finisher HOFBURG.

Ogden Phipps (G1) at Belmont Park: Trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Mike Smith continued their domination of major East Coast stakes races as ABEL TASMAN ($4.00) is now two-for-two over the Belmont main tack (she won the Acorn (G1) last year) while annexing the fifth G1 victory of her career. To the victors go the spoils!

Manhattan (G1) at Belmont Park: Note to self – Pay special attention to whoever trainer Graham Motion enters in this race next year as he has now won the last two editions with big longshots (SPRING QUALITY ($38.00) this year & ASCEND ($57.00) last year).

Metropolitan Mile (G1) at Belmont Park: Three races without cashing a ticket and boom, just as I predicted, BEE JERSEY ($8.50), goes gate to wire, allowing us to cash our $50 Win bet on him & show a small profit for the day. What a game!
